Hari's Promise to Govardhan
T oday the Govardhan lila is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Govardhan is a very special mountain. He does not belong to Vrindavan , he was born from the Himalayas . He's the greatest devotee of the lord. When shree Ram was building the setu to Lanka with the help of Vanar army , Hanuman decided to complete the construction by bringing the biggest Rock he could find. In that pursuit he went to Himalayas and broke off a piece of the ranges that was Giriraj Govardhan . He carried it and as he was bringing it to the south of India, midway he got the message that the piece of rock would not be needed as construction is almost complete. Hanuman had to leave the mountain Giriraj near Mathura . He complained that he is really disappointed that he won't get to be part of Lord's lila .
